August 17, Pizza Night at the Orchard Hill Breadworks Bakery in East Alstead, New Hampshire
Far from a typical restaurant style pizza night, this is a hands on, guest led affair. Orchard Hill Breadworks provides crusts, the oven, a baker, and some instruction, while guests bring toppings including sauce and cheese, make their own pizza, bring their own drinks and any other amenities they want. (They do provide a pot of sauce and a bowl of cheese to get things started so that the first person through the line isn't stuck with a plain zucchini flat bread) We ask for a donation of at least $3.50 per crust which covers costs. All profits beyond Orchard Hill's costs are donated to the Sustainability Project. The Solar Sisters will perform songs of farm and garden.
August 28, 11:00am - 2:30pm Nearer to Nature - Open House in the Emerson Brook Forest.
Come see the fruits of the many hands that worked to create our nature center in the beautiful Emerson Brook Forest. While it's still a work in progress, check out our two-year-old edible forest garden, a 400-foot length of wheelchair accessible trail, and walk our new network of hiking trails. At 1:00, join Herbalist Alisa Andrews to learn about the wild plants of our forest. Be prepared for some spontaneous fun and bring a picnic lunch!
August 28, 3:00pm - 6:00pm Nearer to Nature - Mushrooms in the Garden and Beyond.
A mycological landscape workshop and Chanterelle foray with Dave Wichland followed by 6:00 pm potluck supper featuring collected mushrooms. Sliding scale fee $35-45. Preregistration required.
