Get a Handle On It! Saturday, June 7th, at 3 pm Emerson Brook Forest. Wondering what to do with those broken handled hammers, knives and garden tools? Don’t throw them out. Bring them back into use and give them another century. Learn how to repair wooden handles through the craft of hafting and handling with Christopher Briggs. The workshop is followed by an optional potluck at 6 pm.
Monadnock Seed Savers and Gardeners Meeting Tuesday, June 10, 6:30 PM. Both new and experienced gardeners will gather in a local garden to share stories and skills. Call Jan Maes 399-7243 or Valerie 352-1887 for more information.
Work Day in the Emerson Brook Forest, Saturday, June 14th, 9 am to 4 pm. Join in the playful work of creating the wheelchair accessible center in Emerson Brook Forest, Gilsum. The event, sponsored by Hamshaw Lumber will focus on lean-to and wheelchair accessible trail construction as well as gardening. Come for all or any part of the day. Long pants, sturdy shoes and work gloves are recommended. A bag lunch will be provided to those who sign up in advance.
Board Meeting Monday June 16th, 6:30 pm. Our Board of Director’s meetings are open to the public and we welcome interested individuals. Come learn more about our activities, programs and opportunities to participate. The meeting will be held at the Cleveland Building community room located at 21 Roxbury Plaza, Keene.
Designing Perennial Polycultures: A Forest Garden Design Practicum with Dave Jacke Friday, June 20, 7 pm through Monday, June 23, 4pm. Edible forest gardening attempts to mimic the structure and function of natural ecosystems to create self-maintaining, self-fertilizing, and self-renewing food-producing ecologies. Gain direct experience with site analysis and assessment, habitat design, species selection, and patch design in three fun, intensive days of "minds-and-hearts-on" workshop. No previous experience or training is required, though having taken a basic forest garden workshop and/or read Edible Forest Gardens will serve you well and help you learn more at the three-day event.
Workshop participants will design forest garden patches along wheelchair accessible trails in the Emerson Brook Forest center in Gilsum,
Sliding scale $240-375 plus food and camping.
A Healthy Wholesome Breakfast at the 43rd annual Gilsum Rock Swap and Mineral Show Saturday & Sunday, June 28-29, 8 am-12 pm TSP will be serving up locally grown and/or produced, mostly organic, earth friendly food. The menu, determined by the generosity of local farmers, bakers, restaurants and food businesses will include Pancakes, French Toast, Waffles, Scones, Yogurt and Fruit, Something Vegan, Teas and Fair Trade Coffee. This is a scrumptious opportunity for you to support The Sustainability Project.
