September 21, MCGSSI Meeting: What's All the Fuss about GMOs with Jeanne Sable
As part of our ongoing monthly series of Monadnock Community Gardening and Seed Saving Initiative (MCGSSI) meetings, author and journalist Jeanne Prevett Sable will present a talk demonstrating how organically grown foods can be corrupted by the genes of totally unrelated organisms through the spread of pollen or seeds from genetically engineered crops, and how this may impact farmers, consumers, and our health. The talk will be held at Green Energy Options, 79 Emerald St., Keene.

Sable published Seed Keepers of Crescentville in 2005, a novel that predicted the spread of genetic contamination to crops and wild salmon in the Northeast, government approval of cloned meats, the widespread litigation against U.S farmers by a major chemical corporation for unintended seed patent infringement, and several other developments related to the GMO issue that are currently in the news.
